Saint Athanasius lived in North Africa around 296-373 CE. While Bishop of Alexandria, we spent many years in exile, and his life was pursued by four Roman Emperors. During one of the persecutions, he was forced to live in his father's tomb. He influence on Christianity continues to be felt to the present day; and the Athanasian creed, which outlines the basics of Christian faith, is named after him.
